There are two apps you can almost guarantee your users rely on: Email and Facebook. Email's your online passport, but Facebook's not far behind. Even if you don't update your Facebook status and share pictures often, odds are you keep a Facebook account around for Messenger, the chat service that started out as a tiny popover inside Facebook and now has its own app. It's the chat app where almost everyone has an account, so it only makes sense to keep one, too, so you can talk to others when you want.Your business can make use of that, too, with ManyChat. Designed as a tool to build Messenger bots, ManyChat is actually far more. It's a social media marketing tool that covers everything from helping you acquire new followers to sharing content automatically with them and even chatting with them when they have questions.Read MoreTo setup ManyChat, you'll first authenticate it with your Facebook Pages account and allow it to manage your pages and send messages from them (as you can only use bots from a Facebook Page, not a personal Facebook account). Then, select the Facebook Page you want ManyChat to manage—you can add other pages later. It'll then show you what an automated welcome message and broadcast can look like, and can send the sample message to your personal Messenger account so you can see what they'd look like. Like the messages? You can turn those on right from the onboarding stage without any extra work. And to help you grow your audience, ManyChat will finally give you links to share your Messenger bot with others (hint: you can share your Facebook Page's Messenger profile by adding your page name to the following link instead of YourPage: https://m.me/YourPage).Then it's time to customize things. ManyChat's sidebar lists the wide range of tools it includes to help manage your Facebook Page's Messenger account. You'll likely want to start with the Automation tab, where you can set up a welcome message, menu, and keywords for automatic replies. The welcome message is what will show up the first time someone opens Messenger to chat with your Page. You can then include a menu with common questions—and pre-written answers so ManyChat can automatically onboard people and help them out with the basics. Either way, you can include text, images, photos, video, audio, files, and card galleries to share as much info as you want with users—and you can customize the messages with the contact's name and other info you save about them in ManyChat.Or, add keywords to ManyChat to help it understand standard questions. Say you want an easy way to share your product's pricing. Set a ManyChat keyword for price and cost and pricing, then include a message with the details you want. Repeat that for the things you have to answer most, and ManyChat can automatically take care of your main customer support messages.For everything else it can't answer, the Live Chat tab gives your team a Messenger-like window where you can see a queue of messages from followers, chat with them including emojis and photos, and tag their profile to categorize each of your followers. Finished? Mark the conversation as Done and optionally add a note to let your team know the conclusion, just like you would in a customer support app.Each contact who starts chatting with you will be added to your Audience tab. Their profile will be auto-filled from Facebook data, with details about every conversation you've had and tags or note you've added about them. Need more contacts? The Growth Tools tab is perfect for that, with tools to build landing pages, widgets, signup buttons, QR codes, and more to share your Messenger account with others on your website and use it as your primary outreach and support tool. Then as your audience grows, you can use the Broadcasting tool to send messages to all of your followers at once—a great way to share new products, promotions, or blog posts.Facebook Messenger isn't just a great place to chat with your friends. It can also be a great way to offer live chat support to your customers—and with ManyChat, you'll be able to answer the simple questions automatically, giving your team more time to focus on those who need a more personal touch.
