Office environment
What does this form include?
This form contains 12 sections:
Notification/Notice Boards/Monitors
- Are current OSHA postings prominently displayed?
- Is emergency contact information posted?
- Are current EHS Committee minutes posted?
- Are current fiscal year EHS goals posted?
- Is information pertaining to company involvement in Challenge/VPP displayed and current?
- Are OSHA 300 summaries posted and relevant to the physical location? (must be posted between Feb 1st & Apr 30th)
- Are safety data sheets readily available and employees know where they are located? (ask at least three employees per audit)
Office Ergonomics
- Are work surfaces flat and large enough to accommodate PC's, documents and additional work equipment?
- Does the design and size of work areas allow users to employ flexibility when arranging screens, keyboards and to alter their positions and movements?
- Does the lighting at work area appear to be suitable for tasks?
- Are reflections and glare eliminated from work area and monitors?
- Are adjustable window coverings provided and in adequate condition?
- Are work chairs stable with a five legged base and castors?
- Are work station chairs adjustable and able to swivel?
- Are keyboard keys easy to read from a working position?
- Is there adequate space from the keyboard to allow for support of hands/arms (at least two inches)?
- Is there sufficient space to accommodate mouse movement and hand support (approx. three to six inches)?
Housekeeping
- Are floors clean and in good condition? (no trip hazards)
- Are work areas clean and neat? (no clutter, trash, food, etc.)
- Are trash and recycle bins emptied in an appropriate time frame?
- Is recycling being practiced and in compliance with Shermco Green Initiative policy?
- Are eating areas clean and sanitary?
- Are EHS signs and warnings easy to see and in good condition?
- Are liquid spills removed promptly?
Fire Protection
- Is fire equipment accessible?
- Have fire extinguishers been serviced in the previous 12 months by a third party? (check at least one per inspection)
- Are fire extinguishers being inspected monthly by a Shermco employee? (check at least one per inspection)
- Are exit routes free from obstructions and clearly identified?
- Are building exits clear of obstructions and doors functioning properly?
- Has an emergency evacuation or tornado/shelter-in-place drill been performed in the last 12 months?
- Are employees familiar with Shermco's Emergency Action Plan? (ask at least three employees per inspection)
Health & First Aid
- Is there a first aid kit in the area being inspected?
- Are first aid kits properly stocked and inspected? (look for contents list & inspection date)
- Is an AED available and being inspected monthly?
- Are there adequate hand washing or sanitizing stations in the area being inspected?
- Are restrooms in the area clean and sanitary?
- Are waste containers being emptied routinely?
Training
- Are employees trained in the use of CPR, first aid, blood born pathogens and AED? (ask at least three employees per inspection) (office personnel 2yr., field/shop 1 yr.
- Are employees aware of current training requirements for their assigned work task? (ask at least three employees per inspection)
- Do employees have a basic understanding of the OSHA Challenge Program (VPP)? (ask at least three employees per inspection)
- Are employees participating in the Safety & Health Points Program? (ask at least three employees per inspection)
