Rack commissioning quality control checklist

What does this form include?
This form contains 10 sections:
Section 01 – Infrastructure
- 1. Completed BOM and job scope received and change orders reviewed?
- 2. Complete set of approved and stamped drawings received from engineering?
- 3. Job envelope created, taped to rack. Keys, delivery tickets & wire number sheets placed inside?
- 4. All manuals, remotes and accessories placed in box, labeled and on job pile?
- 5. All changes from rack build marked in red ink on the build set of drawings?
- 6. Was a punch list made and provided to project manager and have all items been cleared?
A.Power
- 1. All equipment in rack powers up?
- 2. Rack grounding scheme properly implemented per drawings?
- 3. Switched and un-switched outlets are allocated correctly per drawings? If you do not have a power drawing, please notify the project manager.
- 4. If there is a sequencer, has the sequence been setup properly? Audio amplifiers on after DSP/Mixing/Equalization/Switching? Audio amplifiers off first?
B.Cabling
- 1. Internal cabling is neatly laid out and dressed per Infocomm Standards? By scoring this item you acknowledge that this is how you received the rack and that you will turn it back over to installation in the same condition.
- 2. Do you have temporary test cables as necessary to test out-of-rack equipment?
C. Ventilation
- 1. If fans are used, there are no vents placed between components in the front of the rack?
- 2. Fans are rotating in the correct direction?
- 3. If fans are not used, has appropriate use been made of vent panels between components?
- 4. Items that are convection cooled have appropriate space above and below to allow air circulation? For example, Crown 180A amplifiers.
- 5. If the rack will be deployed in a dirty space, have filters been used and have all other vents except intake and exhaust been covered up?
- 6. Do you feel that any item of equipment is running excessively hot? Mark “pass” if there is no problem.
D. Control System
- 1. Control processor firmware version is at latest revision from manufacturer?
- 2. Control panel firmware version is at latest revision from manufacturer?
E. Audio DSP / Telco Interface
- 1. Audio DSP has been programmed according to inputs/outputs shown on shop wiring diagrams? Please also verify that these do not include unnecessary processing blocks that waste DSP resources.
- 2. Audio DSP is routing correctly? Test by injecting signal.
- 3. Audio DSP has proper initial gain structure settings based on experience of similar projects?
- 4. All mic inputs have a high pass filter applied that is at least 6dB per octave with a -3dB point at between 100 and 120 Hz?
- 5. Levelers / AGC / ALC appropriately applied? Typically, in a teleconference system with no speech reinforcement, some gentle AGC on the mics targeting 0dB helps compensate for people sitting back. AGC/ALC is always appropriate for audio received from a phone line or a video codec to ensure their levels are consistent and matched. It is not usually feasible to use AGC on mics in a speech reinforcement application.
- 6. Audio DSP has correct echo canceller reference settings defined per the manufacturer’s recommendations?
- 7. Audio DSP is communicating properly with its expansion buss (multiple units)?
- 8. Audio DSP is passing audio that is clean and free of crackles, hum, buzz, hiss or other noises?
F. Video Switching/Processing/Routing
- 1. Video switchers are routing inputs to outputs correctly?
- 2. Video switchers are not adding noise to video signals?
- 3. Digital switchers are routing inputs to outputs correctly?
- 4. Audio switchers are routing inputs to outputs correctly?
- 5. Video processors have interim settings loaded and are functional?
- 6. Video scalers are set to the native resolution of the display they will be feeding and to autosync at their inputs?
F. Video Codec
- 1. Video codec has latest firmware version installed?
- 2. Video codec has temporary IP settings defined to place test calls on TI video network?
- 3. Video codec has temporary IP settings defined to place test calls on TI video network?
- 4. During a test call on the TI video network, is there a means to enter DTMF tones in order to log onto a bridge?
- 5. During a test call on the TI video network, try a phone add. Does the video call remain connected?
Section 03 – Final Checks
- 1. Ensure you have filled out the IP configuration form for the job and provided to the PM. Do not forget to capture MAC addresses & license key info!
- 2. Drawings have been redlined with any changes found during rack testing?
- 3. Have you created a punch list for corrective actions required?
- 4. Have you disconnected all temporary cabling and returned all out-of-rack items to the job pile?
- 5. Have you left the rack in the condition you received it (if not, please add corrective actions to punch list)?
